The EWFC is an annual conference that was started in 2006.  It is a small, informal conference that brings together researchers from Europe, the USA and elsewhere and offers excellent opportunities for in-depth discussion of a small number of papers.

A recent study ranks the EWFC as among the best finance conferences in the world,  with over 50% of papers subsequently published in top 3 finance journals or top 5 economics journals (see table 3 in Reinartz and Urban).  The same study also shows (table 5) that the EWFC is one of most “open” finance conferences, which they describe as “diverse in terms of the university background of the authors.” If you are considering submitting a paper to the EWFC, you should know that papers are not selected on criteria designed to maximize performance in a ranking such as status of the authors or prior success of the paper.  Rather, based on careful reports from the programme committee, we just select papers that are interesting and make a good scholarly contribution.
